FOUNDATION FIELDBUS (1)

1.0 What is Foundation Fieldbus (FF)

2.0 What is Conventional System (CS)

3.0 Simplified Structure of Conventional and Fieldbus System

4.0 Main Difference between FF and CS

1.0 What is Foundation Fieldbus

• A standard of digital communication system for instrumentation.

• FF has been designed as a digital replacement of the 4 to 20 mA standard in the process

industries.

• With FF, the control may reside in the field device rather than in the centralized controller

DCS.

2.0 What is Conventional System

• Analog and discrete instruments are wired to centralized controllers in a conventional

system. Control functions are processed in the centralized controller with passive devices

accepting commands and providing feedback.

3.0 Simplified Structure of Conventional and Fieldbus System

4.0 Main Difference between Fieldbus System and Conventional System

Conventional System

•Analogue (4-20mA)

•1:1 Cable Connection

•Function Block in DCS

Fieldbus System

•2 way Digital Communication

•Multi-Drop Cable Connection

•Function Block in Field Device & DCS

(P.S.: Foundation Fieldbus (2) containing Engineering flow of CS, Engineering flow of FF, Engineering FF and Key Design Point coming soon.)

Very informative and specialized piece of information you are sharing. Thank you.

Now in all big size projects, FF is widely applied and getting update information on this subject is the need of hour and will add much value in our career.
